On July 12, Salem MediaGroup is set to start construction on its first synagogue, which will be built on land previously occupied by a local Christian family, according to local media reports.
Salem MediaGroup’s founder, Rabbi Shmuel Ziv, told the Jerusalem Post that the new building will be dedicated to the Salem community.
“We’re a very big family, and the goal is to create a new community in Jerusalem,” he said.
“It’s an historic community that we want to live in.”
The Salem Media group is one of the few Jewish groups in Israel that are committed to creating a new Jewish community.
The group’s founder Shmiel Ziv said that he hopes to open a new synagogue in Jerusalem by 2019.
Salam MediaGroup has set up a special committee to make the new synagogue a reality.
“Our first goal is the building of the synagogue,” said Ziv.
“But we also have a plan to extend the project to other neighborhoods of Jerusalem, including the Old City, the Haram al-Sharif and the Old Port of Haifa.”
In addition to the new Salem Media synagogue, Salem has plans to build a museum and a Jewish cemetery in the Old Quarter of Jerusalem.
Ziv added that he is open to any proposal from local leaders to build the new Jewish synagogue in the city, including plans for a Jewish community center.
The site of the new church, according the Salem Daily News, is being considered for a museum.
Zaviv added, “The only problem is that the mayor of Jerusalem wants to build another synagogue.”
